Coach Education Opportunity not to be missed! This is a fantastic time of the year for clubs to take the opportunity to up skill the most important resource in the club, the Coach! It’s an opportunity for all Coaches to do what all good Coaches should do and that is never stop learning, it’s a real chance to gain some vital Coach Education. Ballyholland Harps GAA Club will offer Coaches from near and far one of the best Coach Education opportunities on offer at present in the province on Saturday 3rd February commencing at 11am and finishing at 1.45pm.
Innovative and modern approach
Current Ballyholland Senior Manager and Carlow Senior Football Coach Steven Poacher is facilitating the day and will offer a unique opportunity for Coaches at all levels of the game with an extremely innovative and modern approach to coaching. There will be two pitch based sessions and one indoor session, with a world of ideas for coaches to use at all levels, from underage to senior level.
The first pitch session will be delivered by Steven and the theme will be “A Games based approach for all ages” and will look at a variety of games including, small sided games, conditioned games, pressure games and focus game, all relevant from underage level right through to senior level. In the second pitch based session, James McGlade, the Down Minor Footballers strength and conditioning coach will deliver a session themed “Plyometric Progressions > Train Smart” this particular session will look at innovative and pitch based methods to help players avoid injury and increase power!
The final session will be an indoor session and will be delivered by Melissa Broderick, an experienced Pilates Instructor with over a decade’s experience delivering PE in schools and working with Senior GAA Teams, themed “GAA Specific Pilates.” Melissa will show a number of ways you can address the crucial imbalance in a Gaelic Footballers body and will demonstrate through an inventive Pilates session, methods that will help provide you with a more conditioned and injury free squad.
The event is open to all coaches of any age level be it school, club or county or any code as the games, drills and ideas on show will be easily transferable to all codes including Camogie and Hurling. The day commences at 11am in Ballyholland Harps, Father Lynch Park and will finish at approximately 1.45pm Saturday 3rd February and the cost of the day is £10 which can be made payable on the day and is tremendous value and will include tea & sandwiches and a session plan. It’s certainly an information packed morning not to be missed.
