“Bite n Banter for Christmas” event will be held in the Gateway Club at Kilmorey Street, Newry this Christmas Day

Despite the festivities at this time of year many people will feel isolated and alone on Christmas Day and although everyone’s circumstances are different, we at Bite n Banter believe that it is possible to make a difference, however small, to help alleviate the ever growing problem of loneliness in today’s society.

With this objective in mind the fifth annual “Bite n Banter for Christmas” event will again be held in the Gateway Club at Kilmorey Street, Newry this Christmas Day.

Organised by a local group of volunteers, the aim of the day is to provide a place for anyone, young or old, alone or otherwise who would like to enjoy some food, a bit of entertainment and some chat and company on Christmas Day. The Gateway Club have again generously provided us with the use of their premises for the day and being a central location with good access, we hope to welcome you from 1pm for some food, light refreshments and, above all, some good company.

The day is totally anonymous and free and we rely solely on the generosity of businesses and individuals in our local community, who have been extremely benevolent in past years with donations of food, gifts and services.

Anyone wishing to join us and benefit from the day can do so by dropping in from 1pm or calling our enquiry line on 07783 671217.

Anyone wishing to donate on the day can do so by offering a cooked plated dinner which will be gratefully accepted at the club from 12 noon until 3pm (please wrap in cling film or foil without gravy).

All other donations will be gratefully accepted at the following locations…

  • Maud’s Ice Cream Parlour, Warrenpoint Road, Newry.
  • Gateway Club, Kilmorey Street, Newry.
  • Elite Dry Cleaners, Hill Street, Newry.
  • Tidy Paws Dog Grooming, Mary Street, Newry.
  • Pizza Point, Church Street, Warrenpoint.
  • Rostrevor Inn (Crawford’s Bar), Bridge Street, Rostrevor.
