ASDA Kilkeel colleagues raise funds for Childrens Cancer Unit

Asda Kilkeel Community Champion, Stephanie Rogers presented a cheque to The Children’s Cancer Unit Charity following instore ‘Brave the Shave fundraising activity, which raised £2,280 for the charity.

The ‘Brave Shavers’ – Asda Kilkeel colleagues, Stephen Hanna, Jake Knox, Kemal Ozdemir, Christopher Cunningham, Kathy Magill and Gerard McDowell – undertook the challenge to shave their heads to raise vital funds for the unit at the Royal Belfast Hospital.

Stephanie Rogers, Asda Kilkeel Community Champion, who was at the presentation said: “We would like to say a big thank-you to all the shoppers who donated to our ‘Brave the Shave’ efforts. I know it means a lot to all the colleagues instore, especially those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

“The unit can become a home away from home for some young patients, so we wanted to support the efforts of the charity in ensuring it is a safe and comfortable environment. From extending the number of beds available to providing a play specialist, the donation will allow the team to continue to help children and their families at a very vulnerable time.”
