Mourne Seafood Cookery School – Kilkeel are extremely honoured to be crowned with the prestigious title of ‘Cookery School of the Year’ for the second time in 4 years at The Food Awards Northern Ireland 2019. The awards ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast which welcomed over 300 guests to celebrate the best culinary establishments in Northern Ireland.
Based at the Nautilus Centre at Kilkeel Harbour, which is home to the largest Fishing Port in Northern Ireland the Cookery School prides itself in setting exceptional standards in teaching, cooking and using the finest local seafood and artisan produce.
Head Chef Roger Moynihan stated; ‘What a night at the 4th #FoodAwards Northern Ireland 2019 ceremony in Belfast. We are still on a high winning ‘Cookery School of the Year’ for the second time. Our ethos at the Cookery School is to offer a fun relax experience, to enthusiastic home cooks to inspire them to cook better and continue their emotive food experience, while learning a board range of cookery skill, while highlighting the health benefits of eating seafood.
Roger continued to say it’s been an extremely busy period for the past couple of years working at the Cookery School, launching ‘Roger Moynihan Hospitality Consultancy (RMHC), while hosting a number of major out-door events.
“This award is testimony to a lot of commitment, drive and passion which makes it all worthwhile. The next few months will be extremely busy for the Cookery School as we continued to work in partnership with the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council Tourism Department to develop the Mourne Coastal Flavour’s experiences, market and promote our ‘Catch & Cook’ with the Peyton Cunningham on board the PISCES II. Working in partnership with ‘Mourne Matters’ a new mental health and well-being project to develop a range of cookery / educational classes on the benefits off eating seafood to improve well-being as part of a healthier lifestyle / living and finally developing links with the local secondary schools as part of their home-economic syllabus.
