Lidl have selected 11 new local suppliers to go into Lidl stores right across Northern Ireland and Ireland this month, as part of the Kick Start Supplier Development Programme.
The eleven suppliers will have their selected products stocked in over 190 Lidl stores as part of the campaign – there will be 20 products from Northern Ireland on the shelves! This is the first year of Kick Start in NI so it is really great to see so many local suppliers and their products going into stores.
Kick Start Products
An assortment of Oh So Lean products including Low Fat Mexican Turkey Burgers, Low Fat Ready Meals and Low Fat Pork Rissoles, have been selected to be stocked in Lidl stores as part of the Kick Start promotion across Ireland from 17th September for a limited period while stocks last.
Connor Morgan of Oh So Lean says: “Once I started on my own journey of weight loss and realised there were no limits to what I could achieve, I wanted to help others have an equally positive journey. I was fortunate enough to have Dad supporting me in my efforts and through establishing Oh So Lean we were able to extend that support to the wider public. To have our products included in the Lidl Kick Start programme is an incredible opportunity to bring our products to customers all over Ireland.”
Oh So Lean
Hailing from Kilkeel, father and son, Sean and Connor Morgan started Oh So Lean in 2010 following Connor’s decision to lose weight. The weight loss group he joined had sausages and burgers as part of his diet but these had to be made to specific requirements.
Dad Sean, a butcher by trade, set about making these for Connor and before long had a variety to choose from. Connor’s journey was a success resulting in him losing over 6 stone, and he has been maintaining his weight loss ever since.
Before long Connor’s desire to help others on the same weight loss journey led to setting up ‘Oh So Lean’. What started out in their home kitchen has now developed into a successful company with a team of chefs to make a specific range of clean-eating soups, sauces and meals to complement the original range of pork, chicken, turkey, steak, venison and fish products.
As Sean is also wheat intolerant the team wanted to create products which suited those trying to lose weight but had additional dietary requirements. Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soya Free, MSG Free products have since been added to further complement the range. The range of Oh So Lean products have went on to scoop 13 awards in the last two years and although originally set up for dietary needs, Oh So Lean is now recognised within the fitness industry and ‘free from’ community.
