North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club Off Road Section members had a good day at the MAXXIS British Sidecarcross Championship at the Walkes Colne circuit in Essex East England on Sunday.
Lisburn Crew, Gary Moulds & Steve Kirwin took their Moulds & Gardner Racing VMC KTM to a career best third overall in the main Championship behind GP regulars Stuart Brown & Brett Wilkinson round the challenging rough sand of Essex.
Gary scored a sixth in Race 1 after a over ambitious first corner lunge ended in the trackside tapes, and getting caught behind an overturned outfit left them dead last, but two fine third places in the next two races left the Lisburn based crew third in the main Championship, and leading the Experts Championship for those outside the top 8 in 2016
Fellow Lisburn crew Neil Campbell & Craig Parmenter had a bad day at the office on their Campbell Heavy Haulage Zabel WSP after an inventive overtaking manoeuvre on lap three left them upside down, but they fought back to tenth with Neil badly shaken and their two sixth places in the final two races showed the grit of the crew.
Gary’s big sister Emma with passenger Niki Adair had a better day with the M&G Racing VMC KTM limited with a fine performance finishing 13th & 15th after qualifying 19th, but Emma succumbed to a stomach bug in race 3 and retired.
The crews are in action this Sunday in Cork in the Irish Championship followed by the final round of the Ulster Championship at Tandragee on the 116th before they leave for the Sidecarcross of Nations in Cingoli Italy on the 23rd & 24th of September.
