On Wednesday 7 February, South Eastern Regional College (SERC) held its annual Student Excellence Awards ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the best performing students.
The ceremony, which was held at the Downpatrick Campus, is an opportunity for SERC to honour and reward those students whose commitment to learning and training has set them apart from their peers. It is also a chance for the students to celebrate their achievements with family and friends and the lecturers that helped them succeed.
The awards not only recognise those who achieve academic excellence but also students who have shown commitment and dedication to education and personal development and who have overcome difficulties to succeed.
Awards were presented to outstanding students from across the College’s study areas, in addition to prizes for Apprentice of the Year, Trainee of the Year and Student of the Year.
SERC Downpatrick Campus Manager Paul Walsh was full of praise for the students and their achievements. “I would like to congratulate all of those that have won awards tonight, you have shown in your own way that each of you are taking full advantage of the opportunity of education and training and I have every confidence that the attitude and determination which has made you a winner tonight will serve you well as you move on throughout your lives.”
As well as awarding a Student of the Year within the College, there was also a selection of special awards presented to students who have positively contributed to student life.
The awards ceremony was kindly sponsored by Mount Charles Group and East Down Education Partnership.
The full-time course listing for courses starting in September 2018 is now available on the SERC website and students can apply online at apply.serc.ac.uk. The Colleges full-time open day is on 7 March from 2pm-8pm.
